DREAM SJSU

UPDATE (April 28th): Thank you for helping us reach our initial goal of $5000! This will help us manufacture the engine. We have now decided to raise the goal to $6500 in order to pay for a day of testing.

         DREAM at SJSU is a team comprised of Senior Aerospace Engineering students and San Jose State Universities SEDS chapter, Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at SJSU. SEDS is the largest student ran space organization in the world, and our chapter at SJSU strives to create an inclusive environment where students can take advantage of practical engineering opportunities they cannot find in class. Together we make a team of 30 dedicated and diverse students, hoping to make history and gain invaluable experience by being the first University to launch a rocket into space.

    We need your support to build and test our rocket engine this summer (2019). This engine will be the one used in the rocket that DREAM plans to launch for competitions like the Base 11 Space Challenge. The Base 11 Space Challenge is an attempt to dramatically increase STEM talent in the United States with greater inclusion of women and minorities, while giving students the tools they need to be successful engineers after graduation and in the workplace. By offering one million dollars to the first University to reach space, they have created a sense of urgency in Engineering students nationwide. If DREAM cannot raise the funds for our engine and test for this summer we will not have a chance to compete in any current competitions or build our rocket. Completing this rocket is so important to our team and SJSU as a whole because we have the talent, dedication, and team that will rise to the top of the University space race, while producing a new level of engineering talent in graduates.
