Help support the Student Academy of Audiology during this year's Day of Giving Student Academy of Audiology The Student Academy of Audiology at San Jose State University is a student organization that acts in the interest of audiology students at SJSU. We aim to provide resources, opportunities, and support to members of the community who are interested in audiology. In 2023, we have the opportunity to attend the National American Academy of Audiology Conference in Seattle, WA. This conference is a tremendous opportunity for Doctoral of Audiology (AuD) students at SJSU to obtain valuable resources, networking opportunities, and further audiology education. We are asking for your support in raising funds for travel and accommodations for 18 students at the 2023 conference. Your support of this campaign would mean the world to the students in this program. In 2020, the Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) launched and it has been incredible to see the way the program has grown. The inaugural cohort has been able to successfully complete two years of classes and have completed clinical rotations around the Bay Area; our third year students are in the process of applying for our fourth year clinical externships (residency). Our second year students have just completed their oral qualifying exams and have just begun their first clinical internships! In August, we were excited to see our program grow more and welcome a third cohort to the program. Our students are highly motivated and dedicated to the profession and this conference would be a wonderful opportunity for our students to integrate in the field of audiology to enhance our education. Audiology is an incredibly special field that is centered around patient care. Audiologists play an integral role in helping those with hearing loss gain access to sound and communication. We are training hard to evolve into the best audiologists we can be, and would truly appreciate any support you can give as we look to further our education at the American Academy of Audiology 2023+HearTECH Expo. Help support SJSU Kinesiology during this year's Day of Giving. SJSU Kinesiology Who are we? The Department of Kinesiology is one of the largest majors at San José State University. Kinesiology, broadly defined is the study of human body movement, which encompasses the biophysical, behavior and sociocultural aspects. With roughly 900 undergraduate students and 40 faculty members the department is a leader in research, education and practice regarding human movement. Undergraduate students are leaders and have served as important research assistants on faculty-led research projects, as well as conducting their own original research. It is the department’s belief that having undergraduates immersed in research will provide them with the knowledge, practice and networks to be successful health advocates in their future professions. Why are we raising money? The Department of Kinesiology is raising money to help support student travel to academic conferences, workshops and trainings. Students attending academic conferences have the opportunity to learn, interact and network with other researchers and professionals that will ultimately help them develop their own professional journeys. With this ask, we are specifically hoping to supplement travel costs in registration fees, flight costs, accommodation, and per diem expenses (e.g., incidentals, meals). How can you help? The impact of being able to attend academic conferences for students will be monumental as they apply for graduate schools, develop relationships, and grow as scholars!
