6th Annual Nigerian Students Coalition Conference

Hello!

We are the Nigerian Students’ Association (NSA) at San Jose State University(SJSU). This year, NSA SJSU is taking on an Ambitious yet relevant project for our community called the Nigerian Student’s Coalition Conference (NSCC) with the Theme ‘African Millennials – The New Oil.’ This year would mark the 6th annual NSCC and the first time in history a CSU campus is hosting such an event and is, therefore, a milestone for us. To achieve our Mission, we set to form an organizing coalition of students across multiple institutions such as

• ASA at CSU East Bay

• NSA at Stanford University

• NSA at Sacramento State University

• NSA at UC Berkely  

• ASA at San Fransisco State University

Our mission is supported by other institutions across the state and country.

The 6th NSCC’s Mission

Nigeria, from multiple projections, stands on the threshold of what could be the greatest transformation in its history. By 2030, it will be one of the few countries in the world that has young workers in plentiful supply, as 70% of the population is below the age of 35. Youth, not oil, will be the country's most valuable resource in the twenty-first century  We selected the theme ‘African Millennials – The New Oil’ to contrast the failures and missed opportunities of the past, with the promise of a youthful and trailblazing future for Nigeria and Africa.

In other words, our goal is to highlight the incredible potential the Nigerian/African youths have to become the new frontier for rapid economic growth and political rejuvenation for Nigeria and the African continent, as well as to educate on the country's successes, past failures, and challenges going forward.

One of the 6th NSCC’s major deliverable this year, is to decide on and establish a non-profit organization that would house the Conference for the purpose of creating stability and growth for the NSCC and all NSAs and ASAs across the state and country. Our vision to engage, educate and mobilize the youths by building , over the next few years, a global and powerful platform where youths as a collective, could influence and impact issues within our community.

Why We Are Raising Money

To ensure a successful and impactful event for our community and our generation, We need your support in funding the initiatives for the NSCC. Your money will go towards funding Keynote Speakers, Workshop activities, educational materials for our guests and community give back initiatives for the NSCC. Your contribution will be of significance as it will aid in setting in motion, events we believe will snowball into a major movement for positive impact in Nigeria and Africa.
