Who are we?
ML@SJSU is a community of machine learning enthusiasts who build collaborative projects tackling diverse, interesting problems. We host machine learning workshops, reading groups, and guest speakers. Through projects, our members get hands-on training. We focus on career development by conducting resume workshops, mock interviews, and networking events. Outside of SJSU, we run workshops and enrichment for local San Jose high school students, to kindle their interest in the field.
Why are we raising the money?
Machine learning projects can require computational resources that go beyond what most students have access to. In particular, dedicated GPUs are widely used in the field, but they are cost prohibitive. The club wants to provide members with access to such resources so that they can work on the projects they are most interested in, without being limited by the devices they use.
A key focus of the club is making the field more accessible to people from all backgrounds and experience levels. We have partnered with high schools to do workshop series in the past, and are partnering with The Foundation for Hispanic Education to offer enrichment in the Spring. This initiative will enable us to extend that partnership and inspire the next generation of machine learning engineers, by donating to the enrichment program and empowering them to get even more educational partners besides ourselves!
How can you help?
You can support us by donating to this campaign and helping us connect with people who might be willing to make a donation. We will use all funds efficiently towards the welfare of students. If you are a working professional in the field of Machine Learning, you can additionally support us by sharing your insights, potentially as a guest speaker. Email us at sjsumlclub@gmail.com with any inquiries.
A gift at this level would help us get the equivalent of a few units of graphical processing. Every unit matters!
A gift at this level would help us start approaching microcontroller-level performance. We’d be able to run simple ML scripts on this!
A gift at this level would help us get the equivalent of an Arduino board. This would be sufficient to run edge ML models!
A gift at this level would help us beat microcontroller level performance. This would enable us to run full-scale ML models!
A gift at this level would make an important impact for students, and empower students through substantial additional funding for a week’s worth of STEM enrichment.
A gift at this level would make a serious impact for students, and empower students through considerable additional funding for a couple weeks’ worth of STEM enrichment.
A gift at this level would make a tremendous impact for students, and empower students through extensive additional funding for a month’s worth of STEM enrichment.
