MESA Engineering Program

The SJSU MESA Engineering Program (MEP) is dedicated to increasing the number of high-caliber, industry-ready graduates from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds completing baccalaureate degrees in Engineering and Computer Science. We serve students from underserved backgrounds such as:

  • First-generation
  • Low-income
  • Underrepresented minorities, including women and LatinX students

We achieve this mission by supporting our students holistically through advising, career exploration, and development programming. In addition, MEP fosters a sense of community which is a vital component for a successful, well-rounded college experience and post-graduation success. Through our program, we empower underserved students to trailblaze in the tech industry and increase their visibility in the field.

With your donations, the program can continue to:

  • Provide scholarships exclusively to MEP students
  • Provide a well-maintained study space exclusively for MEP students
  • Bridge equity gaps by providing professional development opportunities, such as: industry tours, networking events with industry professionals, interview practice, and resume feedback
  • Maintain resources for the study space, our social events, and industry events
  • Provide funding for a robust team of peer advisors and student assistants to successfully provide valuable 1-on-1 peer advising to MEP students, run events, and manage the program office

Please donate to one of the giving levels on the right of the page to show your support and be an advocate for underrepresented engineering and computer science students today!

$25

Advocate

This can supplement some school supplies for the MEP Study Room and provide more spending for printing.

$50

Bronze

This can help replenish newer supplies for the MEP-exclusive study room as well as providing students with raffle prizes to encourage more engagement with the 300+ students the program serves.

$100

Silver

This could go towards food, snacks and other amenities that can more readily be provided to students and guests of all MEP events.

$250

Gold

This could allow for transportation to be more available to assist with increasing access to off-campus opportunities such as industry tours and on-site company events.

$500

Platinum

This is the equivalent of a partial scholarship and can assist greatly for the program’s End of the Year Banquet to honor all of the program’s supporters. It is also sufficient to go towards all the amenities to host in-person MEP industry events, travel expenses for off-campus opportunities, increase capacity of students for conferences or other large events, and slightly with in-program allocations like scholarships.

$1,000

Champion

This is the equivalent of an entire scholarship for one MEP student and could also contribute greatly to all MEP’s events and activities as listed previously, future initiatives, and greatly providing more accessibility to pre-pandemic opportunities such as company tours.
