Who are we?
We are delighted that the College of Graduate Studies is able to help advance Hector and Catalina Garcia's vision to support SJSU graduate students who are committed to leadership, service, and activism for the benefit of the Hispanic community.
With the Garcia's generous bequest, we will be launching the Dr. Hector and Catalina Garcia Graduate Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship will provide substantial financial support for 2 or 3 graduate students with financial need each year who demonstrate the commitment to the community envisioned by the Garcias.
Why are we raising the money?
We can tell you that the need is very great. We have many talented grad students who are seeking their credentials, master's degree, or doctorate and who are making a real difference for the Latinx community through their research and service. For some of these students, the Garcia scholarship will make the key difference in allowing them to finish their degrees.
How can you help?
In fact, the need is so great that we'd like to invite anyone who shares the Garcia's vision to contribute to the Dr. Hector and Catalina Garcia Graduate Endowed Scholarship fund. Your support can amplify the work that the Garcia's bequest has started and help support even more of these talented but under-resourced graduate students.
