Spartan Racing Electric
Who are we?
We are San Jose State University's Formula SAE electric race team consisting of various engineering disciplines, science disciplines, and business students. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is student-led and driven. Our team works year-round investing an immense amount of time between classes and work to build our entry into the Formula SAE Electric competition. By participating, students gain valuable real-world experiences and create a strong base for their professional career. At our last Michigan competition, we managed to pass all technical inspections and compete in dynamic events. This would be the first time our team accomplished this feat. Our team placed 1st for the Endurance event which secured us 2nd place overall.
Being a part of the Spartan Racing Electric team illustrates members dedication to being part of a long-term project with all its frustrations and glories. They will gain first-hand experiences with respect to their field and the nuances that are not typically taught within their academic discipline. Thus, preparing every team member to be a competitive individual in the engineering labor force. At Spartan Racing Electric we strive to create a cleaner future. Our members pioneer electric technology that can be seen on the roads of tomorrow.
Why are we raising the money?
The money will go towards funding the SRE-6 project and its associated logistics. For the car to be manufactured and assembled, we need to purchase raw materials, composites, off-shelf parts, tools, and machining time. Moreover, because our vehicle is fully electrical-driven, drivetrain components are equivalently complex and costly compared to our internal combustion counterparts. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our team heavily relies on raising funds to operate a project of this magnitude.
