College of Health and Human Sciences Faculty-Led Program

Who are we? 

The College of Health and Human Sciences advances health and well-being for all, through preparing effective practitioners in occupational therapy, nutrition, physical therapy, social work, nursing, public health, recreation and audiology. Experience with diverse communities through short-term study abroad courses in the Faculty-Led Program enhances the ability to be an effective employee. 

Students have the opportunity to learn, interact and collaborate with others who speak different languages and see the world differently.  Students learn to think and understand with a global perspective and gain a deeper appreciation of cultural differences. At SJSU we teach our students how to think in more complex ways and international study gives them a lived experience of exactly that.  Because of this, studying abroad promotes greater marketability and employment opportunities, and also allows students to become interconnected with rich cultures and history. 

Faculty-Led Programs offer students the chance to visit a global destination and study onsite with SJSU faculty and a cohort of peers for a short 3-week period of time while meeting locals and doing credit coursework.  A majority of the programs satisfy upper-division general education courses and some also offer major-specific courses. 

Why are we raising the money? 

Providing scholarships makes it possible for first-generation students in the College of Health and Human Sciences to complete their study abroad curriculum requirement. In the past we had a fund to support this, but that fund is no longer available.

How can you help? 

1. Donate to this crowdfunding campaign!  Every little bit helps! Make a one-time or monthly donation to the Dean's Fund for Excellence in the College of Health and Human Sciences to support the Faculty-Led Study Abroad scholarships.
