Timpany Center
The Timpany Center is a non-profit educational and therapeutic facility that serves community members through a partnership between San José State University Research Foundation (SJSURF) and Santa Clara County. Originally dedicated in 1979 in memory of Dr. C Russell Timpany, former County Superintendent of Schools, the center was designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. Today, the center continues the vision of Dr. Timpany with a mission to provide — through multi-agency involvement and San José State University student service learning — inclusive aquatic and land-based activities that target the promotion of physical health and wellness in individuals with disabilities, obesity, and/or advanced age from the greater Santa Clara County community.
Timpany Center has not been immune to the financial and programmatic effects of the global pandemic. As we look forward to a time where we can all meet in person, we will continue to offer remote classes and activities to keep our members healthy and safe. Your support in this campaign will enable us to continue our low cost online services and rebuild programming as we look to the future reopening. Funding to support staff both online and in person will be integral for our continued success. When back in person, we will need extra equipment, both in and out of the pool, so that each member will be provided with clean and safe tools to aid in their wellness programs.
