Spartan Hyperloop
In Fall 2017 Co-President’s Ali-Imran Tayeb and Thomas Baker accepted the challenge to rally faculty and 60 multidisciplinary students at the cutting-edge of research and development.
Today, Spartan Hyperloop is a top 2 finalist in the levitation portion of the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition! Universities across the world research, develop and accelerate the revolutionary Hyperloop technology. San Jose State University’s team is providing original research in the fields of magnetic levitation, machine learning, and power management.
The accomplishment is a rarity for SJSU tech clubs!
Ultimately, the technology will work by sending pods of cargo, or people, through depressurized tubes at speeds of 700 MPH. That means traveling from San Francisco to Los Angeles in under 40 minutes!

Spartan Hyperloop has a unique opportunity to participate in this competition. In order to get there, we are raising money to help us finish the full-scale design as well as cover housing for the week-long competition!
